Join our Team of Arts Volunteers!

Our volunteers are an exceptionally helpful, friendly, professional, and creative part of our team. A very special THANK YOU to all of the volunteers who have ushered, built sets, designed and distributed posters, stuffed envelopes, donated materials to our archives, created data bases, helped out at First Fridays, and a host of other services.

Share your interests or talents, or learn a new skill all while having fun and making friends. With your assistance, we can continue to offer classes, outreach programs, performances, exhibits and special events that make the Academy an exciting place to visit and work.

If you would like to volunteer at the Academy of Fine Arts, we are especially looking for people to answer phones from 9am-5pm, or help with our mailings.

There's no pressure; volunteering will suit your schedule. Anything from a one-time volunteering stint to several hours once a month, or once a week, or more is appreciated.

Won't you join us?

BACKSTAGE: Become a member of the "running crew" and help with lights, sound, props, or scenery during performances. Help cast members with makeup and hair. What a great way to become a part of our productions!

BULK MAIL: Assist in assembling and placing labels to letters.

RECEPTION: Assist in answering phone, greeting visitors in our reception area, and other projects as necessary. Reception has 2 shifts: 9am-1pm and 1pm -5pm - Monday thru Friday.

FLYER TEAM: Help get the word out to our community about our productions and Academy classes

FIRST FRIDAYS: Help set up and serve for receptions. Gallery exhibits are held on the First Friday of each month.

MAINTENANCE: Help with repairs and sprucing up the Academy and surrounding grounds.

POSTER TEAM: Put up posters for each production in your spare time.

USHERING: Arrive one hour before a performance, greet patrons, take tickets, hand out programs, and sell concessions during intermission. (Not all performances have intermissions.)

INTERNSHIPS: The Academy of Fine Arts also has internships available especially during the summer months in the departments of Arts Education, Arts Management and Technical Theatre. If interested, please specify which department you would like to intern with.
