In my work original Ice Age cave paintings or Neolithic stone alignments serve as a point of departure, as I interpret prehistoric subjects and themes through the eyes of a contemporary artist. Likewise, I blend Stone Age and contemporary materials, using polymer based paints in combination with iron oxide, mica, pumice, sand, limestone, garnet and other minerals to create texture, surface interest, and the illusion of depth. My paintings attempt to reflect the grace, beauty, and spiritual qualities of prehistoric engraved and painted animal figures or standing stones, while providing a new context in which to view them.
