Dedication of the Cullie Lippard Music Room
Thursday, January 13, 2005
5 p.m.
Family and friends will gather Thursday to dedicate a classroom in the new Arts & Education Center of the Academy of Fine Arts. The "Lippard Classroom" will honor Dr. Lippard not only for his professional and civic contributions, but also for his deeply personal musical talent and passion for education. The words and music of his hymn to his wife Sally, who inspired him throughout his life, will be sung by the Childrens Choir of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church,
Dr. Carroll Lippard was a gifted musician, pianist and composer. Had he not gone into medicine, Dr. Lippard might have pursued a career in music through the full music scholarship he had won as a high school student. Many friends have spent holidays and special occasions singing with Dr. Lippard and his wife, Sally, as he played tunes by ear. Friends who were fellow musicians played in jazz combos with him. A reception will follow in the newly dedicated room.
