Contemporary Clay Sculpture [2546]

Experiment with hand built art objects, expressing your inner vision through clay! Although this does not exclude functional objects or working with a potter’s wheel, neither of these are a requirement! Interactive presentations each week focus on mural designs, wall installations with ceramic tiles and other shapes, clay as a drawing surface, surface design via stamping and imprinting, alternatives for glazing such as painting ceramics with oil or acrylic paint post-firing, thematic installations (as in Chihuly’s glass installations), the “cutting edge”: ceramic sculpture that is featured in international art biennales, mixed media sculpture using clay, pragmatic applications, and finally, claymation. Make quick gestural and experimental sculptures weekly inspired by the presentations, or to devise a long- term project.
